iTunes billing FAQ
Summary
To cancel, update or manage your payment info for Hulu, visit your iTunes account page. You can also cancel your account directly at hulu.com/account.

Below are answers to some common questions about Hulu subscriptions being billed through iTunes. This only applies to accounts created directly on the Apple TV or by using iTunes billing credentials in the iOS Hulu app. 

 

 

How do I log in to Hulu on other devices?

If you created your Hulu subscription on your Apple TV, you will need to complete your account setup before you can log in on Hulu.com or any other supported devices. To do this, simply click the registration link in the Welcome Email we sent when you originally signed up. If you accidentally deleted this email,  just head to our Forgot Password page and enter your email address to have it resent. Once you have completed your account setup, you can log in using your email address and password on any of our supported devices.

 

 

How can I verify that I'm being billed through iTunes?

To check and see if your Hulu subscription is being billed through iTunes, head over to your Account page (and sign in, if prompted). If we are billing your iTunes Account for your monthly subscription, under the Your Subscription section, you will see "Your Hulu Subscription will auto-renew through iTunes."

 

 

How do I update my billing information?

You can update your billing information within the iTunes Store. First, verify that you are being billed through iTunes. Then, make any changes to your billing information by heading to iTunes on your computer, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch:

  1. Within the iTunes Store, go to your Account (and sign in using your Apple ID)
  2. In the Apple ID Summary section, click Edit to the right of Payment Type
  3. Make sure to click Done to save the changes
 
If your account is not billed through iTunes, you will need to update your billing information on Hulu.com. To do this, go to your Account page (and sign in, if prompted). Under the Your Subscription section, click Update Payment Information. (Please see this help article for more information). 

 

 

How do I cancel my Hulu subscription? 

You can easily cancel your Hulu subscription on either Hulu.com or through the iTunes Store. To do so on Hulu.com, go to your Account page (and sign in, if promoted). Under the Your Subscription section, click the Cancel Subscription button and follow the prompts to confirm. When completed, you will receive an email confirming the cancellation. Alternatively, to cancel your Hulu subscription using iTunes: 

  1. Within the iTunes Store, go to your Account (and sign in using your Apple ID)
  2. In the Settings section, click Manage to the right of Subscriptions
  3. In the Auto Renewal section for Hulu, click Off and then Done to confirm your update

Once you've gone through the above cancellation steps, you will continue having access to Hulu for the remainder of your paid billing cycle, after which your account will no longer be charged for Hulu.

 

 

How do I restart my Hulu subscription?

You can easily restart your Hulu subscription on either Hulu.com or through the iTunes Store. To do so on Hulu.com, go to your Account page (and sign in, if prompted). Under the Your Subscription section, click the Renew Your Subscription button and follow the prompts to enter your billing information. Alternatively, to restart your Hulu subscription using iTunes: 

  1. Within the iTunes Store, go to your Account (and sign in using your Apple ID)
  2. In the Settings section, click Manage to the right of Subscriptions
  3. In the Renewal Options for Hulu, click Subscribe and then Confirm

 

 

Can I add SHOWTIME® to my iTunes-billed subscription?

At this time, Hulu Premium Add-ons, such as SHOWTIME, are available to subscribers billed directly through Hulu. If you're a Hulu subscriber with iTunes, you will need to cancel your subscription through iTunes, and then sign up directly through Hulu at hulu.com/getshowtime.

 

Please note that cancelled accounts will continue having access to Hulu for the remainder of the paid billing cycle. We recommend continuing with your pending-cancelled subscription and then signing up for SHOWTIME after your billing cycle with iTunes has ended.

How do I switch my Limited Commercials or No Commercials plan?

For Apple-billed subscribers, you can adjust your Hulu subscription settings through iTunes on your computer or iOS device. To switch your plan through iTunes on your computer:

  • Open iTunes and sign in with your Apple ID
  • Click on the account name in upper right corner
  • Click on Account Info
  • Scroll down to Settings
  • Navigate to Subscriptions and select Manage
  • On the Manage Subscriptions page, locate Hulu and select Edit
  • On the Edit Subscription page, find Renewal Options and select between Hulu - Limited Commercials and Hulu - No Commercials
  • Click Done

By switching to the Limited Commercials plan, you will continue having access to your current No Commercials plan for the remainder of your current billing cycle. At the start of your next billing cycle, your iTunes account will be charged for your new plan.

To immediately switch to the No Commercials plan, launch the Hulu app after you've pending-switched your plan through iTunes. After the app loads, you should see a screen prompting you to "Expedite" the switch. You can also access this feature by navigating to the Hulu Plan settings within the app. By expediting your switch to the No Commercials plan, your iTunes account will be charged instantly and your billing date will reset. Any additional time on your current billing cycle will be credited toward your new No Commercials plan.

Why does Hulu commercial free cost more if I pay through iTunes on iOS devices?

If you sign up on an iOS device (iPads and iPhones) and pay for your Hulu subscription with your iTunes account, there is an additional charge due to transaction costs associated with Apple.  When you sign up on an iOS device, the cost of watching Hulu commercial free is $13.99/month. You may also subscribe to Hulu by visiting hulu.com/start on a mobile or web browser to avoid this charge.

Can I place my Hulu subscription on Hold?

At this time, we are unable to offer billing Holds for subscriptions charged through iTunes. If needed, you can cancel your current Hulu subscription and restart your service at any time. Please keep in mind that if you cancel today, you will have access for the remainder of your current billing cycle, and a refund will not issued.

 

 

Can I redeem a Hulu gift card?

At this time, Hulu gift cards cannot be redeemed on accounts billed through iTunes. If you would like to redeem a Hulu gift card, you will need to cancel your current Hulu subscription and then sign up directly on Hulu.com following the instructions that came with the gift card. Please keep in mind that if you cancel your Hulu subscription today, we will be unable to credit your account for the remainder of the month.

Can I refer a friend to Hulu?

Absolutely, however accounts billed through iTunes are not able to receive any promotional credits for friend referrals. If you have a lot of friends you'd like to refer, and would like to get credit for them signing up for a Hulu subscription, you will need to cancel your current iTunes billed Hulu subscription and sign up directly on Hulu.com. Please keep in mind that if you cancel your Hulu subscription today, we will be unable to credit your account for the remainder of the current billing period. 

 

 

Can I redeem an additional promotion?

At this time, we are unable to support the redemption of any promotions other than the standard free week trial for accounts billed through iTunes. For the time being, if you would like to apply an additional promotion to a Hulu subscription, you will need to cancel your current subscription and then sign up directly on Hulu.com (make sure to follow the steps specific to that promotion). Please keep in mind that if you cancel your Hulu subscription today, we will be unable to credit your account for the remainder of the billing period.
